Switzerland‘s cities are known for their drinking water fountains. However, a large part of them is difficult to access, especially for people with various impairments. Yara has water surfaces on all four sides that turn into a jet of water when the built-in light sensor detects someone moving their hand closer to Yara and wants to drink from it. This makes the water accessible to everyone. There is also a small basin so that dogs or other animals can drink without any problems. As soon as it gets dark, Yara is illuminated. Yara is made of granite because of its weather-resistant mineralogy, polishability and resilience. We also struggle with the heat and lack of humidity in our cities. The moving water surfaces extract heat from the air through evaporation and cool it down, especially on hot days. This achieves a significant reduction in the sensation of heat and improves the quality of stay in urban spaces. In addition, Yara is supposed to help slowing down by means of the relaxing water acoustics.
