The new Civic Space is intended to be an informal meeting place for students and lecturers. The perfect icebreaker - a casual conversation at the bar. We students from the Institute of Industrial Design were given the opportunity by Matylda Krzykowski to create the bar. The design was inspired by the first Architecture Week exhibition in Basel. Analog to the Architecture Week pavilion in the immediate vicinity, we used the existing building materials from Zirkular. The bar‘s facade made of trapezoidal sheet metal creates a reference to the pavilion‘s roof. The bicolour of the sheet metal is playfully staged in the form of circular cut-outs. The bar is designed to be flexible and modular, which is why it comes on wheels – so it can be changed as desired. Further, it is a three-part design: consisting of two worktops as well as a space for the drink return station.
